"If the learned and worldly-wise men of this age were to allow mankind to inhale the fragrance of fellowship and love, every understanding heart would apprehend the meaning of true liberty, and discover the secret of undisturbed peace and absolute composure."

Frequently Asked Questions

Bahá’u’lláh is the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith and the latest in a line of Divine Messengers sent by God to guide humanity. His teachings emphasize unity, peace, justice, and the spiritual renewal of the world. He proclaimed that this is the age when humanity must come together as one family and work toward a just and peaceful civilization.

"The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." — Bahá’u’lláh

We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, whose essence is beyond human understanding. Though we cannot fully comprehend Him, His attributes—such as love, justice, mercy, and wisdom—are reflected in the world around us and through His Divine Messengers.

"God is the Light which never fades." — Bahá’u’lláh

The purpose of life is twofold:

  1. To develop spiritual qualities—such as love, kindness, patience, and truthfulness—and draw closer to God.
  2. To contribute to the betterment of the world through service to others and acts of justice, kindness, and unity.

"Be anxiously concerned with the needs of the age ye live in, and center your deliberations on its exigencies and requirements." — Bahá’u’lláh

Yes. We believe that all the world’s great religions come from the same Divine Source. God has sent progressive revelations throughout history to guide humanity, with each Messenger bringing teachings suited to the needs of the time.

"These principles and laws... have proceeded from one Source, and are the rays of one Light." — Bahá’u’lláh

Among them are Abraham, Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, The Báb, and Bahá’u’lláh. Each of them brought spiritual and social teachings to guide humanity.

Yes, our primary scripture is "The Kitáb-i-Aqdas" (The Most Holy Book), written by Bahá’u’lláh. We also follow The Hidden Words, The Book of Certitude, and many other sacred writings.

No. Spiritual leadership in the Bahá’í Faith is collective and administrative, not based on individuals. We have elected bodies called Spiritual Assemblies that guide the affairs of the community.

We have both daily obligatory prayers, which are recited privately, and devotional gatherings, where people come together to pray and reflect. Prayer is seen as a way to nourish the soul and strengthen the connection with God.

Our calendar consists of 19 months of 19 days each, plus a period of intercalary days for charity and hospitality. The Bahá’í New Year (Naw-Rúz) falls on March 21st, and the most sacred period is Ridván, celebrating Bahá’u’lláh’s declaration.

Yes. Every year from March 2-20, those aged 15-70 observe a 19-day fast, abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. It is a time for spiritual reflection and drawing closer to God.

Equality of all people is a fundamental teaching. Women and men are equal in all aspects of life. Racial, national, and social prejudices must be eliminated.

"The world of humanity has two wings—one is woman and the other man. Not until both wings are equally developed can the bird fly." — ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

Marriage is seen as a union of both spiritual and material life, based on love, respect, and consultation. Family life is regarded as the foundation of a healthy society.

Yes. The Bahá’í Faith welcomes all people, regardless of background. To become a Bahá’í, one must recognize Bahá’u’lláh as the Messenger of God for this age and strive to live according to His teachings.

There is no individual authority; instead, decisions are made through consultation. Each community has an elected Local Spiritual Assembly, and at national and international levels, there are National Spiritual Assemblies and the Universal House of Justice.
